Big John makes us proud

YouTube - Big John

After reading about it for several days, I finally took a look at the "Big Bad John" campaign video. This time, Senator John Cornyn is the one going out of his way to make Texans look ridiculous. If you have 2 minutes and 32 seconds of your lifetime to throw away, you might want to click on the link and see what people in the outside world are laughing about these days.

In Texas, when someone says "Willie" everyone pretty well knows who he's referring to. The Texas music genre is noteworthy. Texas has some other good points, too. If it weren't for Texas, Oklahoma and Arkansas would be the states swamped with illegal aliens. Okies and razorbacks ought to be thankful Texas is running border interference for them. Fans of the John Wayne movie "The Alamo" probably appreciate Texas, at least as it was in the Hollywood version. Other nice things about Texas are the beautiful homes up in the hills around Lake Travis, and near Conroe.

One big downside to Texas is the roster of political lowlifes we've inflicted on mankind. Obviously, Jorge is at the top of the list. He's like some of the others, people who weren't born in Texas but who have, unfortunately for the rest of us, become synonymous with "Texas" in the eyes of the civilized world. Karl Rove is another one on that list. A native-born Texan who's the epitome of political bottom-feeding is Tom DeLay. You can put Joe Barton and Pete Sessions in there, too. Our state government is crawling with them, starting with the hairgod and including nearly all of the legislature. Limbaugh, Hannity, and Coulter aren't from Texas, but could've been.

John Cornyn has been a nonentity on the national scene, and I'm guessing a lot of Texans would have to think long and hard to come up with his name if you asked them to identify both US Senators. Maybe laboring in the long, dark shadow of Kay Bailey became too much for Cornyn to endure, and led him to commit this staggering piece of conservative dumbassery to video. The fact he's not embarrassed by this ad tells me everything I need to know about Cornyn. Turn on the lights, watch 'em scatter.

Added 11:04 am, Monday 6/30: The comment by boadicea is correct based on what I'm reading this morning. Big John is embarrassed now that everyone is pointing at him and laughing, but wasn't embarrassed by the original concept. Fool.

  1. Apparently, he was embarrassed enough to blame his staff for the decision to show the video.

Because heaven forfend a Texas Republican should actually be responsible and accountable for anything he does.
