Obama announced he's going to bypass federal election funding this fall, and finance his campaign with the millions of dollars in contributions he's already received and expects to continue. The dude is apparently a money-raising machine. The Republicans are in full metal whine about his decision, but they're almost always in that mode. I usually get the sense that someone stole their sack lunch out of the refrigerator in the break room. Total unmitigated wussiness.
Added Saturday, June 21st: I wasn't online much today, but the political blogs I check regularly are all lit up with people pissing and moaning about Obama's stated position on the "FISA compromise" bill that passed in the House. I should note these are mostly blogs that lean to the left of dead center, and the bitching is being done by people who you'd think probably tend to vote Democratic. Never let it be said that your typical Dem isn't just as gobbled up with the dumbass as your typical Repub. A pox on both their houses.
There are lots of Dems who look at Jorge's job approval rating and delude themselves into thinking Obama will casually stroll into the White House next January. The odds of that happening are realistically slim, slim, thin as tissue paper slim, and if he's constantly being attacked by people who are presumably his supporters, the odds drop to less than zero. Wake up and smell the coffee, you dumbasses. Obama's job now is to get into the best position to win 270 or so EC votes, and he's going to be purely political every step of the way to make that happen. So wise up and cut the man some slack: his job is plenty tough as it is without your whining. If a majority of voters were looking for liberal ideological purity, President Kucinich would be running for a second term in November.
