As a general rule, the news media are rapidly depleting their usefulness. Now and then though, something gets printed or broadcast that's worthwhile; this editorial from today's Austin American Statesman is an example. When I read something like this, then listen to conservatives argue that regardless of the success of the surge we can't even consider wrapping things up in Iraq, my skepticism gets the best of me. As Deep Throat tells Bob Woodward in All The President's Men, follow the money. Always follow the money.
