The Texas-Size Debate Over Teaching Evolution
The link connects to a nice summary in Newsweek magazine concerning the ongoing movement by the Texas Taliban to promote the image of the state as an enclave of benighted yahoos.
The commentary was written by Christopher Hitchens, an intelligent man whose writing is readable unlike George Will, an intelligent man whose writing is painful to read. Also unlike George Will, Hitchens is British, meaning he's interesting to hear when he's opining on television. I don't know what it is about those accents that holds my attention.
I don't agree with Christopher Hitchens about everything, but we agree there are huge gaps in the whole "Adam and Eve in the Garden of Eden" story.
