Good advice, probably ignored

Pound for pound, dollar for dollar, Republicans are more interesting than Democrats. After watching them wreck everything that got in their way from 1994 until early this year, I feel a need to keep a close eye on Republicans, even though their influence nationally has been substantially devalued since 2007.

In the months since Obama was elected, there's been general agreement that the GOP is divided, with moderate Republicans trying to share power with the radicals who've been running the show since the glory days of Newt Gingrich and Tom DeLay. Two of the recognizable moderates are Colin Powell and Tom Ridge. At one point during last year's presidential campaign, there were reports floating around that Ace McCain wanted to select Ridge as his running mate, and I believe that if he had, Ace would probably be president today. We'll never know.

At any rate, I thought the story at the link was interesting. If people like Powell and Ridge were dominating the GOP instead of people like Cheney, Rove, and Limbaugh, there's a chance I might vote for Republicans occasionally.
