Terminology

My bro in Houston and I have been discussing the Blue Dog Democrats who are helping the GOP with the task of dismantling significant health care reform. It occurs to me that I've been using that term in reference to all congressional Democrats (House or Senate) elected in red states or districts that Bush carried in 2000 and/or 2004, who vote like moderate Republicans rather than liberal Democrats. I did a little research and decided I'm probably using the reference too loosely and inaccurately, but as I wrote to my bro, fuck it. I need simplification in my life, and the generic term "Blue Dog Democrat" helps me find it.

The GOP needs to establish a Mad Dog Republicans coalition, made up of senators and representatives whose primary goal is to act insane and scare the shit out of people who are minding their own business. The only problem is, there probably aren't any conference rooms in Washington large enough to hold their meetings.
