Surprises

Amazing. The Supreme Court has ruled on the constitutionality of the Affordable Care Act, known to right-wingers across the nation as Obamacare, and decided not to abolish it. That's big surprise numero uno. What isn't a surprise is that the final vote was 5-4. What is moderately surprising is that Chief Justice Roberts was one of the five, not one of the four. I thought Kennedy would be the swing vote this time. WTF?

Added 12:36 pm: Decided to listen to AM radio to check the RW reaction. I recall the ecstasy on the right when W. nominated Roberts for Chief Justice. Assholes like Limbaugh were gloating that his confirmation was practically a guarantee that the USSC would be reliably conservative for at least a generation. Now, in the biggest ruling since the 5-4 vote that gave us eight years of Bush, Cheney and Rove, Roberts lines up with the liberals. Limbaugh hasn't said "fuck this shit" yet, but I know he's thinking it.
