Majorities

Republicans have not won a majority of the popular vote in five of the last six presidential elections (1992-2012). Yesterday, Democrats gained seats in the Senate. The evidence seems to indicate that the GOP is a minority party when it comes to elections for federal office. Apparently the Democrats won the total vote in the 435 elections for the House of Representatives, but the Republican Party held onto their majority. How can that be ? One word answer: gerrymandering.
