Headlines in the major Texas newspapers: Perry announces he won't run for reelection in 2014. But, no surprise here, he didn't announce his retirement from politics. Why should he? He's already drawing nice pension income from his lifetime feeding at the public trough.
There's no doubt in my mind that El Perrito is convinced God has called him to lead America. Once politicians convince themselves that God has ordained them, there's no limit to their political ambition, since everything they do is what God wishes.
With two years to practice his speeches and polish his act, Perrito might be the GOP presidential nominee in 2016. He's already proved that he knows how to snow the rubes and yahoos who typically dominate GOP primary voting.
