Fearlessness

One of the trends that should be troubling the minds of decent Americans is the fact that Republicans are pushing through a radical political agenda that majorities of voters dislike or oppose, and they're doing it with an insolent attitude that shows they don't fear negative consequences in future elections.

This is a problem because the American system only works when all its baked-in checks and balances are functioning, and right now, they aren't.

When there's a wannabe fascist dictator in the White House, and Congress refuses to rein him in or hold him accountable for his incompetence and corruption, the ability of citizens to protect their freedom finally boils down to the right to vote in honest elections, and throw the bastards out. Their votes are the last resort when the system is failing (as it is now).

Republicans are acting like they've finally figured out how to make elections meaningless. If they have, we're fucked.

An excellent Vox article discusses this issue in more detail
