The big topic on various political blogs today is CPAC and what it means for Americans in general, and the RepubliQan Party specifically.
After being kicked out of the White House, and before he actually goes to trial as the defendant in cases being developed by prosecutors in various jurisdictions, the Former Guy is focusing on two of the few things that can hold his interest for more than 10 minutes: raising huge amounts of money that he can spend with zero accountability, and plotting revenge against every (R) who hasn't been completely loyal to him (e.g., the governor of Georgia).
CPAC is widely considered in political circles to be a leading indicator of the direction the (R) Party is heading in, and based on what's happened at CPAC so far, the direction seems to be simple: doing anything it takes to keep Former Guy calm with generous applications of ego gratification (and identifying with Nazis).
So it's beginning to boil down to this: The only priority of the RepubliQan Party is making sure that all of its members earn the personal seal of approval of the most despised former precedent (sic) in U.S. history. This could end up being the windfall the (D) Party needs for 2022 to be a glowing success - making the midterm election a referendum on the Former Guy.
