Hullabaloo with analysis of why Democratic defeat in Virginia occurred and what needs to happen to prevent bigger losses in 2022.
Part of the problem is that Trumplicans are more motivated to vote out of anger created by the fucking lies about bogus problems (stolen elections, CRT,etc) their leaders tell them, than Democrats are motivated by real threats to the nation that are around the corner if Trumplicans regain the power they had in 2017-2018.
Apparently, many voters don't spend a few hours every day consuming news reports about Trumplican plans to replace our representative democracy with fascist authoritarianism, and therefore aren't moved to make sure no Trumplican ever replaces any Democratic incumbent, ever.
Juanita Jean's presents a similar message delivered in a more entertaining manner (video). PS: The viewer comments are priceless too. Worth reading.
Added 4:22 PM Saturday 6 October: The Biden infrastructure bill was passed by the House. May be the first step in a positive direction for the Democrats in the 2022 midterm election. Daily Kos has another piece on what the Virginia election does and doesn't mean for next year.
In 2022, the presumption is that many of the Trumplicans running for seats in Congress will have been hand-picked by Dimito Assolini himself, and will be tied to him to a degree that Youngkin wasn't in Virginia. If Assolini does stuff that essentially makes 2022 about him, that should help the (D)s.
