Somehow I overlooked the news when it was breaking, but I just read that Ralph Nader is planning to join the election race. The system has already chewed up and spit out a fairly long list of fringe candidates (Gravel, Kucinich, Hunter, Tancredo, etc) and still hasn't quite finished with Ron Paul, and now this dingleberry wants to climb into the hot tub, motivated by the possibility he might rake in 0.33 percent of the national vote total in November.
The only explanation I can come up with is that there's a special type of insanity afflicting some people, and it's beyond the understanding of normal folks. Nader is like that person who hangs around long after the party has ended, talking loudly, when the host just wants to go to bed.
