Why does it have to be this way ?

John McCain: The Panamanian Mexican Geezer Americans Have Been Waiting For:

"Senator Boomdog: Obama has to renounce his islamo-mexican-america hating past, say 10 Hail Marys, wear 20 flag pins on his lapel, sing God Bless America at the top of his lungs 30 times (one hand on heart, other on Bible), don 15 support-the-troops bumper magnets on an SUV with mileage less than 15 mpg, and pass 5 flag-burning amendments to atone for his hatred of America before America-loving Americans will vote for him as American President of America."

That's a cut-and-paste from the Wonkette blog (a comment in response to a post about McCain's new campaign ad that plays up his experience as a POW). Sums up the position Obama's in pretty thoroughly.

Someday when the full history of the Wanker administration is written, the story will be about what happened to the country when every major figure in the executive branch was (a) incredibly incompetent, or (b) a dangerous sociopath, or (c) fundamentally evil, or (d) unbelievably arrogant, or (e) totally corrupt, or (f) all of the above. What's amazing is how so many Americans could have been tricked into believing the outcome could've possibly been any different.

Actually, I'm having a hard time coming up with a single elected Repub that couldn't be described by (a) through (f). Go ahead and include all the conservatives in the media while you're at it, particularly talk radio and cable news. I've come to the conclusion that the America I grew up in and loved may be gone forever, and it's not hard to figure out who's responsible.

In a few months, the long national nightmare will be over. Or will it ? All the early signs are pointing to at least four more years of this cowpie. The Democrats are like a damned dog that gets locked into a frenzy of tail-chasing until it finally drops dead from sheer exhaustion. What the country needs is a healthy infusion of intelligent moral leadership and a government that's ready to roll up its sleeves and go to work clearing the debris W's leaving behind. The Dems are weaklings who aren't up to the task. They can't even find a nominee who has a serious chance to win an election, so the Repubs win by default and the nightmare goes on and on.

The voters aren't blameless in the creation of this mess. In the last two elections, given a choice between Bad and Worse, they've picked Worse. It remains to be seen what might happen if they were given two excellent candidates to choose between.

  1. Here's hoping we choose "bad" this election. Well. "Better." Personally I think Obama is pretty great.
