Two rightwingers made the news for running their mouths-- nothing new about that. The first rightwinger is the famous evangelunical leader James Dobson, who's done as much to give Christianity a bad name as anyone else I can think of. Dobson has his knickers in a knot about Obama's outreach to Christian voters, and claims he's all mixed up about the bible and the constitution. I'm not conspicuously religious, but I've been to church a few times. I can't connect James Dobson to the interpretation of Christianity I hear on Sunday mornings, and I don't consider him qualified to pass judgment on anyone else's understanding of the bible.
The second RWer in the news is Republican hack Charlie Black (rhyme unintended). Charlie's yellow teeth aren't as bad as mine, but make Top Gun's dentition look like a toothpaste ad. Charlie said another terrorist attack like 911 would be a big advantage for Top Gun, who will also be referred to henceforth as Ace. He didn't come right out and say he hoped for an attack, just that he could see it as a plus for Ace.
Another successful attack would prove that Jorge's anti-terror strategy had failed, just like everything else he's ever done. It would add to the serious questions I already have about Ace's plans to stay the course. But that's just me. Anyway, Ace issued the usual disclaimer and Black said he was sorry. Still, it's instructive to hear what's going on in the minds of political flacks when they're not thinking about the cameras and microphones around them.
James Dobson and Charlie Black should go and sit quietly in the corner until they learn to behave themselves.
