Tom Daschle and Nancy Killefer, two potential functionaries in the Obama administration with income tax problems, have dropped out of the running -- to the displeasure of AM radio talkers who wanted them around as perpetual symbols of Epic Fail. Frankly, I'm glad they're gone. I wasn't impressed with Daschle during his brief tenure as Senate majority leader, and Killefer has such a low profile I'd never heard of her before this week. Obama went public and admitted he had screwed up, which I believe were his exact words.
I waited eight long, sickening years to hear the previous occupant admit just once that he'd screwed up. God knows there were plenty of opportunities, but that dipstick cruised through life never doubting himself (or admitting it if he did).
I didn't think Obama would be president until the cable news channels called it at about 10:00 pm on election night, so I had no expectations about how good or bad he'd be in the position. I was mainly concerned with getting 43 out of town and making sure that damned dimwit Palin never got within 100 feet of the White House. Since I had no preconceived notions about Obama, I haven't been particularly influenced by anything that's happened since the inauguration. But with three little words, "I screwed up," Obama has already shown himself to be a better man than the guy he replaced.
