Reconfiguration

I read a good article in the paper about the growth of ethnic minorities among the population of Texas, and the implication of the changes for congressional redistricting. The latest census confirms that plain old white folks of the Caucasian persuasion are now in a numerical minority in the state, with just over half of Texans being black, Hispanic, or other. House districts that were solid white are less so, and the GOP incumbent protection plan has gotten more complicated. The bottom line seems to be that Republicans will figure out some scheme to keep their guys in office, regardless of the distances they'll need to stretch district boundaries, and more than half the population will wind up with a U.S. representative who doesn't give a fuck about their interests. Get used to it, amigos. I have.
