There was a rally held in Austin a few days ago. About five thousand people showed up at the capitol to protest budget cuts that they believe will have a negative effect on public education.
Rick Perry saw the crowd, did the mental math, and realized 99.9 percent of the protesters would never vote for him anyway. Perry understands that at least 51 percent of the voters think he's doing a great job and don't give a flying fuck about public education if it means they pay a few more dollars in taxes. Besides, he lives in a mansion and has a cushy job as Texas governor for as long as he wants it.
So, protesters, I hope you got some sunshine and a little exercise, because all you got from your elected state government was the Extended Middle Finger.
