Q NOTES # 318

I read a post at Palmer Report this morning that raised an interesting point. Since the Democrats now have the Senate majority, there's no Constitutional restriction against passing a rule that would allow voting by secret ballots in the second Cheez Doodle impeachment trial next month. What makes this interesting is the possibility that more (R) members might vote for conviction if they were voting anonymously.

Update 4:31 PM on Day 319: Madam Speaker reminds members of the House that threats to their safety are real, but are already within the chamber. In a scary movie, this would be the scene where the terrified teenager is told the serial killer is calling her from the phone downstairs.

Joe carried Georgia in November, and the (D) candidates both won Senate seats in the runoff election earlier this month. Naturally, the response of the state legislature is to change the rules to make voting more difficult. A reminder that (R) candidates can't win most elections that aren't stacked to give them a big advantage.

My nominee for Question of the Day: Is the United States better off with the New York Times and Washington Post, or without them?

Before answering, remember that the national news media made the entire Cheez Doodle nightmare possible by covering him as though he was a normal president and a normal human being, neither of which was true.

One of the most important things I've learned since the Reagan administration is that federal and state governments will never work properly any time there are enough Republican politicians around to screw things up. This is partly because (R) voters are so totally fucked, they keep electing unqualified assholes like Tommy Tuberville.

Daily Kos on Joe's executive orders, and the joy of living after Twitter kicked Cheez Doodle's ass off permanently.

Setting aside policy matters and political experience, the more I read about AOC, the more I believe she has the political instincts to eventually be another Madam Speaker: She has zero tolerance for right-wing bullshit in its many forms, like the current Madam Speaker.

It's hard to believe, but there are (R)s in Congress who make Liz Cheney look good. All of them should be required to wear those red MAGA caps at all times, so that they're easily identified, therefore easily avoidable.
