I'm not the political junkie I once was (in 2000, for example), and the internet coverage of yesterday's primaries is overwhelming. I've been online trying to sift through it all for over an hour now, and haven't even gotten to wonkette yet.
Two news stories in the morning papers caught my attention:
In one, Hillary has apparently dropped a hint that the Dems "might be headed" to a ticket with HRC and BHO as running mates, with HRC in the top slot. A few weeks ago, I thought that looked like a promising alternative. Now, with the campaign getting nastier and more negative, I'm not so sure. All factors considered, I'd prefer to see the Dems bind their wounds rather than disintegrate completely, and this might be the solution to a permanent rupture. More than likely, it's too late. Obama-Clinton ? Not in the cards. Clinton-Obama ? Still loses to McCain, but might keep it close enough to hold my interest.
In the second story, there are no hints or veiled references: W has come right out with it and announced he'll formally endorse Walnuts today. Maybe McCain will have a chance to give Willy Wanker another of those big sloppy hugs that makes them look like two ugly old gay guys getting out of control. Damn, every time I try to think happy thoughts about Walnuts, that MF does something to kneecap me. I really wish he'd start putting some distance between himself and W.
