Enough dumb to go around

I came across an interesting article at the conservative journal of the American Enterprise Institute. In a nutshell, it deals with the matter of which group is smarter, liberals or conservatives. This is a question I've contemplated often over the past 35 years or so. Since I lean more toward liberal viewpoints, I want to believe that liberalism and high levels of intelligence always go together, but there are too many examples of liberals making dumb moves. One thing that seems apparent to me, though, is that the dumbest conservatives make the most noise and get the most attention, leading to the stereotype of rightwingers as ignorant bottom-feeders, yahoos, and dipshits.

Looking at it another way, the most visible liberals in America are more likely to be people I'd want to know than the most visible conservatives. Alec Baldwin or Sean Hannity ? Rush Limbaugh or any liberal ? For me, those are easy calls to make.
